Indispensable:
- Acrobits Softphone: Right now, I have this one installed on my iPad without a universal build, but I really do want this one universal. The only iPad-native SIP phone right now is Whistle Phone and it doesn’t have the same configurability that I need for my VOIP provider (Babytel). They say they’re working on an iPad native version, but I won’t be buying a new version.
- Facebook: I’m not sure why this one isn’t here yet. The website doesn’t *quite* cut it, especially with the added sync features, etc.
- Twitter for iPhone (aka Tweetie): Twitterrific for iPad doesn’t do it for me. There’s some good ideas in there, but it’s not *quite* working for me, especially vertically. (There’s too much horizontal space for the tweets and the vertical space taken up is a little too much.) As much as I want to like Heltweetica for iPad, it has some of the same problems as Twitterrific and has too much emphasis on always getting the most recent data. It’s not as harsh on the eyes as Twitterrific to me, though.
- PasteBot and ConvertBot. I really want to see TapBots’s take on the iPad interface. Go ahead and throw in WeightBot, too, but I doubt I’d run it on my iPad.
- iStat: Bjango, too, could do wonders with this thing. I wouldn’t mind seeing dual-machine monitoring (horizontal split if the iPad is vertical; vertical split if the iPad is horizontal).
- NFB Films: The iPad is begging to have The Cat Came Back played on it.
- Remote: Hello.
Nice to Have:
- Air Canada: They could do very nice things with this;
- Tripit: I could really use this for my upcoming trip to Italia.
- LinkedIn: Like the Facebook app, I’m not sure why this one isn’t ready yet. Not as immediately useful to me as Facebook, but it would still really help.
- WriteRoom: Now that TaskPaper is universal, it’d be nice to have this universal, because of the syncing.
- Remember the Milk: I’m ambivalent about this one, as I’m not really using RTM frequently anymore. However, I think this is important.
- Palringo Instant Messenger: This one may have already lost to IM+ Lite for me. (Why Lite? Because I do IM on my iPhone or iPad rarely and don’t have a problem with ads.)
These are the only ones that I’m really missing, although The Creeps! HD could use many of the features that are in the iPhone version of The Creeps!.
